Hello, to all Sailors, Parents, Coaches and Volunteers,
I can’t believe that it is only a month to run before Christmas! Deb and I were away for the weekend of the 17th enjoying the food and the wine at the gourmet food festival at Margaret River, and it was pointed out by at least one dinghy sailor that it was excellent sailing conditions that we missed here in Mandurah whilst we were down South! The summer sailing season is well and truly under way, with some of the best sailing conditions that we have seen in a while. This weekend, with the help of Linda, Jo and Neil (In Orizbaba RIB), we went out in the estuary with 7 dinghies and 14 eager juniors to practice race starts. A great effort by all the youngsters, and I have to say how surprised that I was to see the development that this group has achieved since I was last out on a support boat to watch them. Well done. Bee was busy on the club beach with the newer juniors in the Oppies, starting them off on their sailing journey.
This weekend, We are off to Bunbury to enjoy the waters of Koombana Bay. Please see below links for the Notice of Race, Registration forms and Sailing instructions. The plan is to have the RS Feva’s, Bic and Robertina loaded on the trailers by Friday night, ready to leave MOFSC by 0800. We should get down to KBSC by 0920, for registrations. Please see NOR for other timing details. For those that have decided to come down to KBSC, could you please let me know by email, txt or phone, so that we know who is going and that we have enough dinghies. If you can get the registrations back to me, via email, that would be great. Alternatively, registrations can be completed at KBSC when we arrive. We will require a couple of volunteers to assist on Robertina and KBSC have asked if we have provide some assistance on their Start Boat and RIB. Could you please let me know if you can volunteer, so I can check numbers, and let KBSC know.
The intention for us travelling to other clubs in this traveller series is to develop our experience sailing in different conditions. Competing and participating in these events can only help us be better sailors and develop friendships and connections between the three participating clubs.
For those Juniors that are staying, Kevin has offered to provide some fun on the water back at MOFSC. If you could be there at the normal time, Kevin will arrange activities. Don’t forget that it is the MOFSC Boat Showcase, so take some time out and wander down and have a look at what is on offer.
A couple of upcoming dates to remember are;
- Last sailing day before Christmas is the 15th December.
- First sailing day after the Christmas break is the 12th January
