2018 Social Paddle

It was another fantastic day – it seems like a good time was had by all. The MOFSC Social Paddle, sponsored by RMarine Mandurah, was attended this year by 60 people. Two support boats accompanied the 33 paddlers who departed Pinjarra and made their way to the lunch stop where the sausage sizzle was supplied and prepared by Laurie and friends of Kununurra Lakeside Resort. The day was hot and the attacks with the water pistols and buckets of water were not entirely unwelcome. All paddlers enjoyed the chilled bottled water supplied by Battery World.  The remainder of the 27 supporters met us at the lunch stop and some enjoyed a swim before travelling back to Ravenswood on boats calling encouragement or shooting the paddlers with water as they passed.

A few paddlers retired after lunch and enjoyed the rest of the day hitching a ride on the houseboats.

The paddlers were all back at Ravenswood by about 3.30 so there was plenty of time to relax and have a swim before we got together to prepare the BBQ dinner. We had around 40 people stay for the BBQ but the mozzies and exhaustion meant the night finished quite early. We will have to be prepared with the repellent next time. A big thankyou to all who pitched in and helped on the day. It can’t happen without you. The good thing is that there are too many of you to name individually. Judging by the comments and compliments from participants this year we will do it all again next year.
