Sailing Volunteer Positions
The Sailing Section has the following Volunteer opportunities. Unless otherwise indicated, the positions are casual i.e. ‘come when you can’, but the larger the pool of experienced volunteers that we have available, the better for all of us. Our Volunteer Coordinator will put you on her email list and ask for availability of volunteers every Wed/Thu for the coming weekend.
Shazzy – our always smiling Saturday Sailing Vollie Queen!
Results entry: we are currently looking for someone to assist on Saturday afternoons in the MOFSC Race Tower to enter start and finishing times into our Handicapping Results software at the end of racing. Full training provided. Timeslot is 3:00 to 5:30pm most Saturdays in summer.
On-water support: physically capable casual crew often required to assist on-board our 3 club support powerboats (2 and 3-person crews) to lay and retrieve marks, keep an eye on the dinghies and larger yachts, and lend support when required (e.g. accompanying a sailboat back to the clubhouse during a race in the event of gear failure). Most Saturday afternoons from 12:15 to around 5:00.

Timekeepers: reserve volunteers are required to assist our Race Officer on board the 40-foot Race Committee boat ‘Mistral’. You must be fast with a pen and be able to sit at anchor for up to 3 hours. Sounds tough – but tea and cake on the water in the sunshine in between taking down race scores is a tough experience to beat as well! Most Saturday afternoons in summer.
