Fishing Presentations 2018

The Fishing Section held it’s end of season trophy presentation last Thursday evening in the dolphin View Room. A very good crowd of members and guests – including some long time sponsors – were treated to some wonderful food prior to the giving of trophies and awards.

Justin Davies was all smiles with his winning heaviest Tailor and heaviest Sand Whiting.

The prize for largest Flathead / Flounder was happily accepted by Dave Slater, however he probably wasn’t so amused to find out that he had also been voted as he winner of the Most Outrageous Tale award – with the judges having learned of several “motor mishaps” during the year. Never mind Dave – think of the bait and fuel you saved by not getting out !

RC Fishing, Steve Carter, proved he is no slouch at getting onto the big ones by winning the Pink Snapper prize.

Mariano Bordes was rewarded for his biggest Breaksea Cod.

The Junior Champion title was taken out by a very excited Tayah Edwards, who was also became laden down with awards for largest Scale Fish and largest Dhufish. Both of these weighed in at over 10 Kg – a remarkable effort for the young lady. The trophy was presented by long standing member and donor (family) of this award. To add to her successes Bob Benzie awarded her the Encouragement Award – not sure where she will go to with even more encouragement !

The Men’s Champion trophy was won by Brian Edwards who showed his usual prowess throughout the season by also being rewarded for having landed the heaviest Shark, heaviest King George Whiting, heaviest Skipjack and heaviest Gamefish. Another great season Brian – very well done.

Overall Club Champion and Ladies Champion and  were both won by Gabi Gaal, who also took away the silverware for Most Monthly wins, largest Baldchin Groper, largest Bream and largest Herring. Quite a  memorable season Gabi . Congratulations.
